Things That Inspired Me This Week — 11/4/2017

Between my persistent gloomy feelings lately and everything in the news, the past couple weeks have kind of been a garbage fire, right? Can we talk about good things happening now? That’d be great.

Here are some things that inspired me or brought me joy this week:

  1. Stranger Things 2 — I’ve been begging my younger brother to watch this series for a full year until he finally conceded a week ago, we watched the first season in two days, and jumped right into season two. We just finished it, and I won’t say anything other than everything is bigger. It’s just so good and you should watch it already.
  2. Create & Cultivate Portland Pop-up — I’m so happy the Create & Cultivate group made their way to Portland! I get serious FOMO whenever I see pictures of their events. This Los Angeles-based group hosts events “for women looking to create and cultivate the career of their dreams.” They invited a panel of women in the STEM industry to discuss topics like entrepreneurship, current projects, how to get started, etc. I love hearing people, women especially, talk about how they landed in their careers. While we all may see their highlight reels online, none of them started out successful. One of my favorite questions of the night was “What was your favorite failure?” Everyone falls — make sure you fall forward. Here is a summary of the Portland Pop-up.
  3. New Opportunities — After some phone screenings, I was called for a couple in-person interviews next week. I’m really looking forward to seeing what happens next. Hopefully, I will be able to report back with some good news 🙂
  4. Updated Blog Layout — Trying out this new layout for a bit to see if I like it, but so far it’s allowing me a little more functionality which is great!

Now it’s your turn! What made you happy this week?
